Seven people were rescued unharmed about noon Sunday after their boat sank near Van Pugh Park off Lake Lanier.

Hall County Fire Services got a call about a boat problem. Upon arrival, Marine Rescue 1 found the people in the water.

“Apparently, the vessel had experienced some type of mechanical failure and had begun to sink,” Hall Fire Marshal Scott Cagle said.

Helping in the rescue was Georgia Department of Natural Resources and the Forsyth County Fire Department, he said.
