No community members spoke at the Hall County Board of Commissioners’ first public hearing Thursday about earlier Sunday alcohol sales at restaurants.
Commissioners will hold a second hearing and vote on the change on Jan. 24.
Beginning Feb. 3, restaurants in the county would be able to start selling alcohol at 11 a.m. on Sundays, a shift from the current ordinance that only allows sales to begin at 12:30 p.m. In November, 63 percent of Hall voters approved the change.
A state law passed in 2018 allows counties and municipalities to put the issue on the ballot for voters to decide whether earlier Sunday sales should be permitted. The law does not apply to grocery stores.
