Gainesville-based Carroll Daniel Construction Co. has named Al Petrangeli its chief operating officer beginning in January.
Petrangeli joins Carroll Daniel Construction after his recent retirement from Balfour Beatty Construction, where he served as regional COO. Balfour Beatty is an international construction services firm and one of the largest contractors in the United States.
Petrangeli’s experience in the construction industry spans 40 years, managing projects across the Southeast, and even in the US Virgin Islands. In 1986, his work landed him in Orlando, Fla., where he spent the majority of his career building hotels for Walt Disney World before being named president of Balfour Beatty’s Florida Division in 2000.
Less than 10 years later, Petrangeli became the first regional CEO for the company, overseeing its $1.3 billion Southeast division. He later focused his efforts on business in Georgia, specifically, assuming the roles of president and regional COO and growing the company’s presence throughout the state.
Petrangeli retired from Balfour Beatty earlier this year.
