Newsmaker in business: Hospital selects leaders for medical resident program

Northeast Georgia Medical Center has recently started to fill leadership positions to develop its new medical resident program, set to start in 2019.

Dr. John Delzell Jr. has been named vice president of medical education and will serve as the program’s designated institutional official. Dr. Delzell most recently served as vice president and DIO of GME for Broward Health System in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., where he also served as the associate dean for GME at Florida International University. 

Donna Brown has joined the hospital as the director of GME.  She recently moved from McAllen, Texas, where she was the program coordinator and director of surgical education for the general surgery program at Doctors Hospital at Renaissance. 

Dr. James Kruer Jr. has been named program director for internal medicine. Kruer most recently served as program director for internal medicine at St. Mary Mercy Hospital, in Livonia, Mich.          

Dr. Charles Richart has been named general surgery program director. Richart is NGMC’s current medical director of trauma and acute care surgery, as well as surgical critical care at NGMC.
