New funding to support Olympic Venue plans

Gainesville is planning to provide more than $11,000 in additional funding to support the implementation of a master plan for the Lake Lanier Olympic Venue.

The funds will be used to conduct an environmental assessment for the park as the governing body, Gainesville Hall ‘96, seeks a state-funded grant for future construction projects and upgrades.

Improvements already made include renovations to facilities, docks and the tower.

Hall County will cover the other half needed to fund the assessment, which will be reviewed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
