Work on the Interstate 85 widening project will require lane closures next week along the highway in Gwinnett, Barrow and Jackson counties.

Asphalt paving and bridge construction will require single lane closures along I-85 in both directions from State Route 211 in Barrow County to Hamilton Mill Road in Gwinnett County. Work will occur nightly from Monday through Friday between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m., and Saturday from 9 p.m. to 9 a.m. Sunday.

Also, bridge construction will require single lane closures along I-85 southbound from State Route 53 in Jackson County to State Route 211. Work will occur nightly from Monday through Friday between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m., and Saturday from 9 p.m. to 9 a.m. Sunday.

A new bridge on Spout Springs Road over I-85 opened Friday. Drivers are asked to be careful in the area, as work crews may still be there.

The I-85 widening project is set to be complete in 2020.
