Melody Marlowe is retiring as Gainesville’s chief financial services officer and administrative services director June 17. She will begin work as finance director for the city of Dahlonega on June 20.

Marlowe thanked the many people she has worked with, and for, in the past 20 years. “Gainesville has been an amazing place to work. Council and management have supported me every step of the way, and my co-workers are the best,” Marlowe said in a press release. “A special thank you to all those who have worked in my department over the years. It has been a pleasure leading such a dedicated and loyal group of people.”

Marlowe also served as interim city manager for Gainesville from July through November of 2015 after Kip Padgett left the position and before Bryan Lackey was named the city manager.

Marlowe said she appreciates the opportunity to narrow her scope of responsibility and continue the work she loves on a smaller scale in Dahlonega.
