On Monday, Northeast Georgia Medical Center became the first and only hospital in the state to offer this new technology after Leach implanted the “Absorb” stent in a heart patient.
A Northeast Georgia Medical Center cardiologist implanted the first dissolvable heart stent in a patient Monday, a new treatment option for coronary artery disease approved last week. The stent created by Abbott Laboratories was approved last week by the Food and Drug Administration. The Gainesville hospital is the first center in the state to offer the treatment.
