A man was stabbed several times during a fight at the Gainesville Marina in the early hours of Monday, June 17.
The 40-year-old was taken to the hospital by Hall County Fire Services personnel. Hall County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Derreck Booth said the man was in stable condition Monday afternoon.
The fight happened around 3:40 a.m. Monday at the marina on Dawsonville Highway, Booth said.
The suspect left in a car that was stopped about 10 minutes later by Gainesville Police near Industrial Boulevard, Booth said.
“There was a car description at the scene, and being that it was early in the morning, officers just found it and did a stop on it,” Booth said.
The man, Damon Wesley Walker, 26, of Commerce, and a woman in the car were detained, but the woman has been released with no charges. Walker was taken to Northeast Georgia Medical Center for minor injuries.
“There’s no danger to the public at this point,” Booth said.
Walker was charged with aggravated assault and aggravated battery.
Booth said alcohol is believed to be involved in the case, but authorities did not release any further details.
