Bystanders revived a 25-year-old man who nearly drowned in a swimming pool at a home on Poplar Springs Road Wednesday afternoon, officials said.

Hall County Fire Chief David Kimbrell said the bystanders were trying to resuscitate the man when rescue personnel arrived shortly before 5:30 p.m.

Eventually he was breathing on his own.

The man was taken to Northeast Georgia Medical Center for follow-up treatment.
