Man accused of stealing car at church

A Woodstock man has been charged with stealing a car from the premises of Oakwood Baptist Church on Saturday

Owen Michael Johnson, 19, is accused of stealing a 1996 Honda Accord. He faces charges of theft by taking, criminal trespassing and loitering.

The Hall County Sheriff's Office Crime Suppression Unit arrested Johnson after he entered the church and pastor’s office during daylight hours.

Johnson was also seen checking out the vehicles in the parking lot and looking into them. The Honda he is accused of stealing was valued at around $2,000.

He was booked in to the Hall County Jail, where he remains, and the case remains under investigation by the Hall County Sheriff’s Office.
