A Gainesville man is accused of biting and pulling the hair of a 17-year-old girl he had picked up in Oakwood, police said.
Oakwood Police responded Friday afternoon to a report of a girl pushed from a vehicle.
Officers found the 17-year-old girl in the Walgreens parking lot on Mundy Mill Road at Atlanta Highway, and she had injuries on her left arm and above her right eye, Capt. Rick Whaley wrote in an email.
Whaley said Axel Cruz, 18, had picked up the girl at Walgreens in a white BMW after she was dropped off by her friends.
“Mr. Cruz was upset, and an altercation ensued,” Whaley said. “During the altercation, Mr. Cruz allegedly bit the victim multiple times. Mr. Cruz also allegedly kept the victim from exiting the vehicle by grabbing her hair and pulling her back inside of the vehicle.”
The girl grabbed a screwdriver and struck Cruz with it several times, Whaley said.
Cruz released her, and the girl ran from the BMW.
Police took Cruz into custody a short time later on Browning Drive.
Whaley did not have further information on what relationship the two had or why they were in the vehicle together.
Cruz was charged with false imprisonment, kidnapping and battery.
No attorney information was listed for Cruz at Hall County Magistrate Court.
