WomenSource, a local nonprofit group aimed at helping women succeed, will host authors of "Black America Series: Hall County, Georgia" at its Brown Bag Lunch at noon Thursday.

Author Linda Rucker Hutchens is a retired Gainesville Middle School teacher and author Ella J. Wilmont Smith is a retired Hall County library technician.

Their book showcases black heritage through photos from the late 1880s through the late 1970s.

Staci Tunkel, director of mentoring with the local Center Point Mentor Program, will also share information about mentoring.

Those who attend the lunch are asked to bring school supplies to be donated to United Way of Hall County. The materials will be distributed to students in Gainesville and Hall County schools.

Joy Griffin, vice president of resource development for United Way, will present information on the School Tools for Cool Kids program.

Suggested school supplies include three-ring binders, backpacks, pencils, pens, composition paper, crayons, colored pencils, construction paper, glue, glue sticks, pencil cases, scissors, erasers, rulers, book covers, art pads, toothpaste, toothbrushes, Band-Aids, socks, underwear, compasses, protractors,dividers, folders, 3-by-5-inch note cards, hand sanitizer and tissues.

WomenSource's Brown Bag Lunches are held on the first Thursday of each month at the Frances Meadows Aquatic and Community Center at 1545 Community Way NE, Gainesville.

Reservations are required but attendees do not need to be members of WomenSource.

Lunch is served beginning at 11:45 a.m. and the program begins at noon. Cost is $5 per person for the program and includes lunch.
