Lula suspends garbage collection Monday

Lula officials are advising residents that garbage collection is being suspended Monday out of concerns about inclement weather that may be produced by Hurricane Irma's remnants.

City Manager Dennis Bergin said garbage collection would resume Tuesday.

Gov. Nathan Deal on Sunday declared a state of emergency for all 159 counties in Georgia out of concern of the storm barreling up from Florida.

Bergin said Lula City Hall would open as usual unless conditions dictate otherwise. He said a decision has yet to be made on whether a scheduled City Council work session at 6 p.m. will be held.
