Lula’s council members and mayor will now be able to get paid for more meetings, after no residents spoke at a second public hearing Tuesday and the City Council approved the change.
The Lula City Council also held a hearing on May 13, and no one spoke about the change at that meeting.
Council members can now be compensated for an additional two meetings per month at a rate of $50 per meeting. The mayor can be paid for one extra meeting, also at the rate of $50.
The changes go into effect in January 2020. All council members present at the meeting approved the change. Councilman Garnett Smith was absent for that portion of the meeting.
