Lego exhibit takes shape at garden

Artist Sean Kenney’s Lego exhibit will be open at the Atlanta Botanical Garden, A Smithgall Woodland Legacy, until Jan. 3 in Gainesville. Visitors will have the opportunity to participate in Lego crafts and activities throughout the fall, including a special Lego construction contest.

A Lego exhibit will open Saturday at the Atlanta Botanical Garden, A Smithgall Woodland Legacy, in Gainesville and run through Jan. 3.

On Monday, workers were putting some of the finishing touches on the 27 individual nature themed sculptures made from more than 375,000 Lego blocks. Overall, the collection has more than 50 sculptures created from more than 1.6 million Lego bricks.

The exhibit highlights the art of Sean Kenney.

Opening day will feature music and games in the amphitheater, hands-on Lego themed activities for the entire family and discovery stations throughout the botanical garden.
