A Lanier Technical College student and Northeast Georgia Medical Center employee died Wednesday after a one-vehicle wreck in Franklin County.

Carlye Lynn Elrod, 20, of Demorest lost control of her car and overcorrected while traveling north about 12:30 p.m. on Ga. 164, according to the Georgia State Patrol.

Her 2003 Pontiac Sunfire left the east shoulder of the road and hit a tree, according to the patrol, and Elrod was taken to Ty Cobb Regional Medical Center in Lavonia.

A Hall County native, she was a member of Chestnut Mountain Baptist Church in Flowery Branch and also attended Riverpoint Community Church in Cornelia, according to her obituary.

She attended Jackson County Comprehensive High School from 2008 until 2010 and graduated from high school and earned a certified nursing assistant credential in Colorado.

She was attending Lanier Technical College, pursuing her radiology certificate, while working at the medical center, the obituary stated. In her spare time, she enjoyed volleyball, basketball and softball and being active in Young Life.

A celebration of her life will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the chapel of McGahee-Griffin & Stewart Funeral Home in Cornelia.
