A single lane will close on Boling Bridge along Ga. 53 beginning at 7 p.m. on Monday to 6 a.m. Tuesday.

The Georgia Department of Transportation announced the closure at 3:19 p.m. Monday. A lane will close again from 7 p.m. Tuesday to 6 a.m. Wednesday.

Lane closures are needed while DOT paves an on-site detour for the section of highway from Little Hall Park to Dogwood Path.

“The on-site detour will shift drivers south, 200 feet prior to the current Boling Bridge,” the announcement states. “Crews will be working in close proximity to the travel lanes. Motorists are reminded to drive alert and slow down in the work zone.”

The detour will allow construction of the new highway lanes and bridge approaches, and it will be in place until the bridge is finished in 2019.
