Eddie Hartness, president of the Gainesville Kiwanis Hope Foundation, announced Tuesday that the Kiwanis Club of Gainesville has paid off its $112,000 note used to purchase land to house four families transitioning out of homelessness.

The civic club purchased less than an acre of property at the corner of Dixie and High streets.

Hartness said the club plans to build four family housing units on the property that will house families for up to one year as they transition to steady jobs and permanent housing.

Donations to fund construction can be mailed to: Gainesville Kiwanis Hope Foundation, Inc. c/o Barclay Rushton, Treasurer Rushton & Co., CPA, 726 South Enota Drive, Gainesville, GA 30501.
