The Jefferson City Council has approved its millage rate and general fund budget for the 2010 fiscal year.

During a special called meeting, the group approved the $6.6 million budget and the 6.398 millage rate.

According to city staff, because the city’s millage rate didn’t change from last year, the council was only required to have one public hearing. It was held Monday prior to the council’s work session.

City tax bills are expected to be mailed out by Oct. 23 by the Jackson County Tax Commissioner. Tax bill payments will be due by Dec. 21.
