The J.C. Penney Co.’s department store at Lakeshore Mall has submitted plans for review to Gainesville’s community development department that call for $1 million in renovations. Rusty Ligon, director of the community development department, said the proposal includes new carpet, tile, paint and lighting and covers 54,000 square feet of the existing 62,000-square-foot store. Plans also include remodeling the restrooms to meet the Americans with Disabilities Act guidelines.
