The inmate who died Friday night at the Hall County Jail has been identified as Nathaniel Joel Whited, 29, of Flowery Branch.

The cause of death still wasn't known Monday.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation has been called in to investigate.

Just before 8 p.m. Friday, Whited was found unresponsive in his cell in the medical section of the jail, according to a news release from the Hall County Sheriff's Office.

On-duty medical personnel attempted to revive the man but were unsuccessful, the release said.

Whited has been in the jail since February 2010 and was recently sentenced to five years in prison for child molestation.

The release said the inmate suffered from several chronic medical conditions and was recently moved to the jail's medical wing.

Foul play is not suspected, but it is standard procedure for the GBI to assist in the investigation of inmate deaths.

Whited's funeral service is set for 2 p.m. Thursday at the Flowery Branch Church of God. Flanigan Funeral Home and Crematory of Buford is in charge of arrangements.
