Hubert Stephens Road in North Hall is set to close April 30 as Hall County prepares to replace the Hubert Stephens Road Bridge.

Traffic will be rerouted to Wade Whelchel and Ben Parks roads, as well as Mount Vernon Road for the duration of the closure.

Officials expect the road to remain closed through the spring and summer before reopening later this year ahead of the 2018-19 school year.

The condition of the bridge had deteriorated to the point that school buses no longer were allowed to cross it, Public Works Director Ken Rearden has said.

E.R. Snell was hired earlier this year to design and build the bridge for $1.27 million.
