The suspect in the April 25 armed robbery of Hamilton State Bank in Hoschton was taken into custody Wednesday in inside a Biloxi, Miss., casino, and remains in police custody there awaiting extradition proceedings.
According the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, a caller’s tip about the possible identity of the suspect put investigators onto the trail of 36-year-old Soua Lee.
Described as an Asian male in his mid-30s, the suspect allegedly entered the bank and demanded money be placed in a black satchel bag. He left the scene in a gray Buick Rendezvous that was found at the Lee’s Hoschton residence.
A search warrant was obtained for home and law enforcement found clothing believed to be worn by the suspect. Also found was a black satchel, a gun and empty gun cases.
A warrant was obtained and released nationwide for Lee’s arrest.
Through phone records, investigators determined Lee had traveled to Cherokee, N.C., and there local police recovered a BMW owned by Lee and his wife that had been abandoned at the hotel. The investigation revealed Lee had taken a Greyhound bus to Biloxi.
The U.S. Marshal’s Office and Biloxi Police were notified of the Jackson County charges, and Lee was placed under arrest inside a casino.
Lee will likely also be facing a charge of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, said Jackson County Sheriff Janis Mangum.
