Holiday Inn Express & Suites now could open a 94-room hotel off Dawsonville Highway/Ga. 53 in Gainesville this fall.
The four-story, 55,635-square-foot hotel featuring an outdoor pool and patio had been planned for an early summer opening. Grading began at the site in late 2016.
Holiday Inn spokesman Ada Hatzios said Wednesday, June 27, he wasn’t sure what was causing the opening delay, but “it is very common for construction timelines to get pushed back.”
“This is a franchised hotel, so it’s independently owned and operated, and the hotel owner would hire the construction crews and plan the timelines,” he said. “Weather delays are usually a factor.”
The hotel is at 1189 Dawsonville Highway, in the middle of a fast-growing commercial area. It is beside Buffalo Wild Wings, behind Cheddar’s Scratch Kitchen and across from the North Lake Square shopping center in Gainesville.
