Glen Kyle, executive director of the history center, shows children different Revolutionary War artifacts such as coins, utensils and weapons, that were used during the time period. Kyle said, “The Revolutionary War is our beginning. Colonists came here 200 years before the war. However, it (the war) is when we got a sense of ourselves, who we were and who we wanted to be. That’s the national picture. The individual picture is about the people who came here for a new opportunity and new experiences.” - photo by CHARLES PHELPS
Northeast Georgia History Center held its Family Day event Sunday. Each month, a different theme from history is picked and brought to life. Sunday’s theme was the Revolutionary War period and featured volunteers dressed as people from the era.
