A lane closure on H.F Reed Industrial Parkway in Oakwood is planned for Monday, Aug. 27, as part of construction of Interstate 985’s new Exit 14.
Flagging operators will direct traffic from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., according to the Georgia Department of Transportation.
“This lane closure will allow installation of a drain pipe,” a DOT press release states.
H.F. Reed runs from McEver Road to Thurmon Tanner Parkway, but with the diamond interchange’s estimated completion in August 2019, will continue over I-985, ending at Atlanta Highway/Ga. 13.
Also, as part of the $34 million project, a traffic shift has been underway on Thurmon Tanner at H.F. Reed since June.
The four-lane Thurmon Tanner narrows to two lanes between Avery Drive and Tanners Creek Drive, a half-mile stretch that includes the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs’ Community Based Outpatient Clinic.
That work is taking place so the contractor can add turn lanes and work on the median.
