Flowery Branch’s Nov. 6 special is set, as two people qualified this week to replace late Councilman Fred Richards
Leslie Jarchow, a Sterling on the Lake resident, qualified Wednesday, July 18, the last day of qualifying.
She will face Gainesville Street resident Christine Worl, who qualified Tuesday, July 17.
The Nov. 6 special election will coincide with the county’s general election, so voters will be able to go to their county-designated polling place to cast their ballots, officials have said.
The new Post 3 council member will be elected at large and will serve the balance of Richards’ term, or until Dec. 31, 2021.
Richards, 70, who died in June, had started a new four-year term on Jan. 1 after being re-elected in November.
The last day for voters to register for the special election will be Oct. 9.
