March is coming in like a lion with strong thunderstorms moving through the northern part of Georgia this afternoon, bringing heavy rain, wind and possibly hail.

Hall and surrounding counties are under a severe thunderstorm warning by the National Weather Service until 6:30 p.m. and a severe storm watch until 10 p.m. Other areas in northern and northwestern Georgia are under a tornado watch as well.

A line of showers came through Gainesville around 5 p.m., with a stronger line of storms coming behind it.

Strong storms are likely through the evening hours, followed by a cooling trend, with temperatures dropping into the lower 40s overnight. Thursday's highs will be in the mid-50s, with lows back into the upper 30s overnight.

Friday will be cooler as well, with a chance of freezing temperatures by Friday night.
