Fire Chief Jeff Hood resigned Tuesday from Hall County Fire Services, according to county officials.

Interim Hall County Administrator Jock Connell announced the resignation after 5 p.m. Tuesday.

“We appreciate Chief Hood’s service to the citizens of Hall County, and we wish him the best of luck in his future endeavors,” Connell said in a statement.

Hood was hired in January 2014 as deputy fire chief. He assumed command in August 2014 after then-Fire Chief David Kimbrell was relieved of his post.

Kimbrell was terminated as emergency management director by the county Thursday, the same day an illicit video was found on Hall County information systems backed up from his personal computer.

Deputy Fire Chief Mark Arnold has been named interim chief.

Commissioners Billy Powell, Jeff Stowe and Scott Gibbs did not immediately return a request for comment. Board of Commissioners Chairman Richard Higgins deferred comment to county spokeswoman Katie Crumley.

Crumley did not release any further details.
