The Dawson County Board of Education has announced a finalist for the position of Dawson County High School’s principal.
North Hall High School Athletic Director Richard Crumley is the sole finalist, according to incoming Superintendent Damon Gibbs.
“Mr. Crumley is a 25-year veteran teacher who has spent 23 of his 25 years at Jackson County,” Gibbs said. “The other two, he has spent in Hall County.”
The position was left vacant after former Principal Jute Wilson announced his resignation in April to accept the position of Lamar County superintendent.
Crumley taught at Jackson County Middle, East Jackson Middle and Maysville Elementary prior to moving to Jackson County Comprehensive High School. He also served as assistant principal and athletic director at East Jackson Comprehensive High School, as well as athletic director of North Hall High School.
Crumley holds a bachelor’s of science in Health and Physical Education from the University of Georgia, a master’s in Health Studies from the University of Alabama and a specialist’s degree in Educational Leadership from Lincoln Memorial University.
He is expected to officially be approved by the board during its 6:30 p.m. Tuesday meeting at the central office.
