The Hall County Sheriff’s Office dive team searched Lake Carlton on Friday, July 20, after a man’s body was found around 8:15 p.m. Wednesday.

The 911 caller told authorities about something floating in the water in unincorporated Loganville. Gwinnett County Police Sgt. Jake Smith said decomposition made it difficult to identify the body.

The body was sent Thursday for an autopsy, but “nothing conclusive was discovered to confirm the deceased man’s identity,” Smith said in an email Friday.

Nothing related to the case was found as of 3 p.m. Friday following the Hall County dive team’s search.

“If nothing has been found by the end of the day, the dive team will return to continue the search at some point next week,” Smith wrote in an email.
