Although the city of Gainesville has annexed and taken over Lake Lanier Olympic Park on Clarks Bridge Road, the county will be contributing financially over the next two years.

The agreement with the city was unanimously approved by commissioners as part of the consent agenda. The Gainesville City Council approved the city’s side of the agreement on May 7.

Hall will pay Gainesville $200,000 in July 2019 and $200,000 on or before July 2020 for maintenance and operations.

The county and city had been jointly operating the park and each paying $150,000 annually. Gainesville’s annexation of the park was approved by the Georgia General Assembly in April. The city plans to make some improvements, including renovating the boathouse.
