The Hall County Board of Commissioners will likely approve an annual grant application to acquire Federal Transit Administration funds to support Hall Area Transit, the local public bus service, when it meets Thursday.
The grant seeks about $312,000 in funding and requires an exact match by the county. The match will come from the Gainesville-Hall Community Service Center budget, a joint agency that funds Hall Area Transit.
The total funding is meant to support efforts to increase use of the bus service, maximize revenues and control costs.

Farm wineries are prohibited in Hall County, but that’s likely to change soon.
The Hall County Board of Commissioners is considering amending its alcohol beverage codes to establish definitions, classifications and other regulations for farm wineries.
The county has defined a farm winery as one that makes at least 40 percent of its annual production from agricultural produce grown in the state.
If approved, farms with wineries on their premises will be allowed to have tasting rooms as well as sell bottles of wine for later consumption.
At a work session Monday, the Board of Commissioners asked that a first reading and vote on the code change be held Thursday.
