Hall to consider lease for workforce development transitional housing for homeless men
Hall County Government Center

The Hall County Board of Commissioners will consider a lease Tuesday night, March 6, for transitional housing providing workforce development for homeless men.

The annual rent would be $1 from North Georgia Works for the space at 1255 Vine St.

“We really have had wonderful cooperation from city and county government. It’s been outstanding. And the courts, agencies, churches, businesses and individuals — the whole community has been excited about the prospects of this initiative,” said Doug Hanson, who is spearheading the project.

Hanson lended credit to the United Way Compass Center and the North Georgia Community Foundation. He said the Vine Street location would follow the “proven model” for workforce development set by Georgia Works.

Georgia Works bills itself on its website as transforming “chronically homeless men into self-sufficient and productive members of society.”

The voting meeting is 6 p.m. Tuesday, March 6, at the Hall County Government Center.
