The Habersham County Board of Education voted Monday night to officially approve Robert Costley as its new superintendent starting July 1. He has an initial three-year contract that includes an annual salary of $120,000.
"We are excited to have Mr. Costley coming on board," said Gilbert C. Barrett, board chairman. "His diverse instructional background and leadership skills will prove invaluable as Habersham County works to continue to improve student achievement."
He will replace Judy Forbes.
Costley, now the assistant superintendent of the Hart County school system, said he is "excited about the opportunity to serve the students and community of Habersham County."
"Anywhere you find an excellent school system, you will find a community (that) feels welcome to participate and partner with schools," he said. "To build trust and commitment from the community, I’ve got to get out and meet people, listen to their ideas and build some relationships."
