A pre-Thanksgiving lane closure is planned on Lanier Islands Parkway/Ga. 347 in South Hall so crews can put down a final asphalt topping as part of a widening project.
Weather permitting, the closure is set for 9 a.m.-4 p.m. daily starting Wednesday, Nov. 20, and ending Tuesday, Nov. 26, according to the Georgia Department of Transportation.
The closure will take place between McEver Road and Holiday Marina near the entrance to Lanier Islands resort — or basically the length of the project.
Flagging operators will be in place to help guide traffic through the construction zone.
The $10.4 million project is expected to be finished in February.
Work began in late summer 2017 to widen the road from two to three lanes, adding a center turn lane along the 2.4-mile stretch, a 10-foot multi-use path on one side of the road and a 5-foot sidewalk on the other.
