Georgia pharmacists can now dispense a drug used to reverse opioid overdoses without a prescription. Naloxone Hydrochloride is a medication used to block the effects of opioids, especially in overdose.
Local pharmacies are waiting on additional recommendations from the state but plan to stock and dispense over-the-counter a lifesaving drug used to reverse prescription drug and heroin overdoses. Gov. Nathan Deal on Wednesday asked the Georgia Department of Public Health to deregulate the anti-opioid drug called naloxone.
