An inmate died Friday night at the Hall County Jail, and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation has been called in to investigate.

Just before 8 p.m. Friday, a 29-year-old white man was found unresponsive in his cell in the medical section of the jail, according to a news release from the Hall County Sheriff's Office.

The inmate has not yet been identified pending notification of his family.

On-duty medical personnel attempted to revive the man but were unsuccessful, the release said.

The inmate has been in the jail since February 2010 and was recently sentenced to five years in prison for child molestation. The release said the inmate suffered from several chronic medical conditions and was recently moved to the jail's medical wing.

Foul play is not suspected, but it is standard procedure for the GBI to assist in the investigation of inmate deaths.
