1978 vs Kentucky: "YEAH! YEAH! YEAH!"Three suspected gang members were charged in a pair of residential burglaries in the Maple Forge subdivision in which more than $20,000 in property was stolen, police said Wednesday.
Edgar G. Sosa, 19, Fernando Denova, 17, and Jose De Jesus Rodriguez, 19, were each charged with two counts of burglary, Gainesville police Lt. Brian Kelly said. The teens, who police say were members of the BOE and Sur 13 street gangs, were also charged under Georgia’s criminal street gang act.
Gainesville police responded shortly after 1 p.m. Tuesday to the subdivision. Both homes, one on Lexington Court and another on Hamilton Court, had basement doors forcibly opened, Kelly said.
In the Lexington Court burglary, some $10,000 in jewelry and $5,000 of computer equipment was taken, police said. Burglars took $600 in property at the Hamilton Court location.
The suspects were arrested less than two hours after police responded to the burglaries, Kelly said. The Gainesville-Hall County Gang Task Force assisted in the investigation.
Police recovered about $5,600 in stolen property. Investigators are still trying to determine if others were involved in the break-ins, Kelly said.
