A Gainesville woman died Tuesday in a wreck in North Forsyth County. Alicia Velazquez, 24, was riding in a 2009 Volkswagen Passat when it was struck by a 2004 F-150 pickup truck about 6:12 p.m. Tuesday at the intersection of Dahlonega Highway/Ga. 9 and Mountain Road. The Passat was heading north on Ga. 9 when the driver, Joshua Gomez, 31, of Sugar Hill, reportedly attempted to turn left at the intersection, pulling into the path of the southbound 2004 Ford F-150, driven by Oscar Garcia of Cumming, according to a news release from the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office.
