Motorists in downtown Gainesville around suppertime today can expect delays because of street closings for the Gainesville High School homecoming parade.

The motoring public can expect delays and lane closures from about 5:45-6:45 p.m. around the downtown area, according to the Gainesville Police Department. The square will be closed to all traffic during this time frame. The main area of concern for motorists should be the downtown square; it will be closed from Maple, Spring and Washington streets.

Motorists are asked to use alternate routes to avoid delays or congestion.
