Gainesville State College police are searching for a thief after $10,000 worth of landscape equipment was stolen from campus over the weekend.

"We're still investigating it. We're in the process of putting all of this together," Public Safety Director Richard Goodson said.

Sloan Jones, director of pubic relations and marketing for the college, said a building in the plant operations area was broken into Sunday night. Items stolen included a chainsaw and "other equipment of the landscaping nature."

"The official police report, which is public record, should be available by Thursday afternoon," Jones said in an email to The Times.
