The Gainesville Care Center, which provides pregnancy counseling, announced it has changed its name to Choices Pregnancy Care Center.

“We are changing our name, but the heart of our mission and services remains focused on the tiny hearts that inspire us every day,” Executive Director Ann Gainey said in a news release. “Our new name also is more descriptive and will help people better understand what we do.”

The agency provides counseling, support groups, STD testing, education programs, ultrasounds on a limited basis and adoption referrals, among other services.

The decision to change the name came after a year of research, discussions and focus groups, according to the news release, and is an effort to reach more young people in need of such services. It also better reflects the organization, which now has a second location in South Hall.

“More importantly, we wanted a more descriptive name that would attract more area young women and men in need of pregnancy crisis counseling and our other services,” Gainey said.

The center’s two locations are at 434 Green St. Place in Gainesville and 4591 Winder Highway in Flowery Branch.
