A Gainesville police officer sustained only minor injuries Saturday, July 7, after being dragged by a car fleeing the scene of a traffic stop on Davis Street.
Gainesville Police Sgt. Kevin Holbrook said two officers were speaking to the driver outside of the car when a front-seat passenger began acting “suspiciously” and “erratically.”
Holbrook said an altercation ensued when the passenger moved into the driver’s seat and then sped away, dragging one officer a short distance.
The chase ended near Monroe Drive when the car crashed into an embankment.
Holbrook said the driver was arrested on felony charges while another passenger was arrested on drug charges. The original driver was not charged.
