A Gainesville man is accused of sexually assaulting a woman at a Gainesville motel.

Henry Joel Garcia, 22, was charged with rape Thursday. He was booked on Friday morning in to the Hall County Jail, where he remains.

Gainesville Police responded to the Motel 6 on Monroe Drive of an alleged sexual assault Jan. 13.

“A female victim advised that she had been sexually assaulted by an unknown suspect,” Sgt. Kevin Holbrook said. “She gave a vague description of the individual, as well as other key information which is still pertinent to the investigation.”

Police investigators developed leads and worked with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation to make a composite sketch, Holbrook said.

“Through that, as well as information yielded during the investigation, (that) led us to Garcia,” Holbrook said.
