Gainesville planning board gives thumbs down to apartment, townhome proposals
Residents, officials speak out against developments

A couple of residential developments — one involving 240 apartments and the other, 14 townhomes — were rejected Tuesday night by the Gainesville Planning and Appeals Board. Both now go to the Gainesville City Council, which has final say. In the apartment proposal, Zimmerman Properties is seeking annexation of 20 acres off Pine Valley and White Sulphur roads and rezoning to accommodate multi-family housing.
