Gainesville Mayor Danny Dunagan named to Georgia Municipal Association board

Gainesville Mayor Danny Dunagan was elected to the Board of Directors for the Georgia Municipal Association during the association’s annual meeting in Savannah on Monday.

Dunagan will serve as president of the association’s 2nd District and also as chair of the Environment and Natural Resources Policy Committee. The district includes cities in the following counties: Hall, Forsyth, Dawson, White, Lumpkin, Banks, Towns, Rabun, Union, Habersham, Stephens, Franklin and Hart.

As a policy chairman, Dunagan will also serve on the GMA Legislative Policy Council.

“We are pleased to have Mayor Dunagan serving in this leadership position,” said GMA Executive Director Lamar Norton. “He has extensive knowledge of both municipal issues and the legislative process, making him an outstanding leader of the Environment and Natural Resources Policy Committee.”

Based in Atlanta, GMA is a voluntary, nonprofit organization that provides legislative advocacy, educational, employee benefit and technical assistance services to its 520 member cities.
