After a tumultuous ending more than a year ago, a child molestation case closed on calmer terms Tuesday in Hall County Superior Court. Wedged between the morning’s pleas, motions and revocations, 21-year-old Gainesville man Jose Alberto Rodriguez Jr. pleaded guilty to one count of child molestation after a judge granted a motion for new trial filed by attorney Dan Summer and consented to by Chief Assistant District Attorney Wanda Vance. “It’s the first time in my career I’ve done something like this and it’s unusual, but based on all of the facts and circumstances we’re comfortable doing that,” Vance said.
