A 21-year-old Gainesville man was killed in a single-car accident Thursday night in Forsyth County, sheriff’s officials said.

Joshua Tyler Jay of Walnut Cove Court died from injuries sustained in a 9 p.m. wreck on Bethel Road, Forsyth County Sheriff’s Capt. Frank Huggins said.

Forsyth Sheriff’s Traffic Specialist Ron Tomblin said Jay was driving a 1994 Buick Regal north on Bethel Road near Lake Hollow Drive when the car left the road and flipped several times, landing on its roof in the northbound lane of Bethel Road. Jay was partially ejected from the car, Tomblin said.

Investigators believe excessive speed was a factor in the wreck, Tomblin said. There were no passengers in Jay’s car.
